Current position: Research Director, head of the LABGeM team at CEA Genoscope
David Vallenet is a researcher in bioinformatics and microbial genomics at CEA Genoscope and the PI of the LABGeM team. His research focuses on developing computational approaches to analyse microbial genome diversity, gene functions, pangenomes and metabolic capabilities.
He is involved in the development of major bioinformatics resources for microbial genomics, including MicroScope, an integrated platform for genome annotation and comparative analysis, PPanGGOLiN, a graph-based framework for microbial pangenome analysis, and PanGBank, a large-scale resource providing access to thousands of precomputed microbial pangenomes.
His research interests include comparative genomics, pangenomics, functional annotation, genomic plasticity, microbial metabolism and antimicrobial resistance. His work aims to connect large-scale genomic data with biologically meaningful insights into microbial diversity and evolution.
